Mike Frantz leaves FCN after six years
The midfielder has signed a contract at SC Freiburg and will join them at the start of the new season.
Mike Frantz is set to leave 1. FC Nürnberg after six years with the club. The midfielder will join SC Freiburg for the new season and signed a contract with the Bundesliga club on Friday, June 13th. The transfer fee is undisclosed.
“We regret to see Mike leave us. He has always identified himself with the club over the years and was one of the longest-serving players at 1. FC Nürnberg,” explained chairman Martin Bader. “Freiburg offered him a long-term contract and so his decision is understandable. In return, 1. FC Nürnberg have obtained a suitable financial resolution.”
Part of the 2009 promotion side
Mike Frantz, whose contract at Der Club was set to run until June 30th 2015, moved to the Valznerweiher Sportpark from 1. FC Saarbrücken in summer 2008. His first season with the club was coupled with promotion to the Bundesliga. In total, Mike Frantz made 109 Bundesliga appearances for FCN, scoring eight goals.
