Nürnberg sign Daniel Ginczek

Daniel Ginczek is the latest 1. FC Nürnberg signing as the former Borussia Dortmund striker pens a three year deal with the club.

1. FC Nürnberg have made another signing fort he new season as Daniel Ginczek arrives from Borussia Dortmund, signing a contract until 2016. The 22-year-old striker was on loan from Dortmund at second division FC St. Pauli last season and managed 18 goals in 31 appearances for the Hamburg club.

“Daniel Ginczek was one of the best strikers in the second division this season and was on the wanted list of a number of other clubs. We are delighted that he has decided Nürnberg,” explained chairman Martin Bader. “He fits in at the club as a young, exciting prospect and will definitely help us with his quality.”

Third new arrival


The 6’3“ striker finished in second spot in the second division scoring charts with his 18 goals. Ginczek, who has featured for Germany at all youth levels, was also on loan at VfL Bochum. Before that, he spent three years in Dortmund’s second team.

“The Bundesliga is the next step for me. I am looking forward to this new challenge in Nürnberg,” said Daniel Ginczek. “I always had the feeling in my discussions with the board that everything was going to fit here.” The 22-year-old follows the arrivals of Martin Angha (FC Arsenal) and youth striker Nick Weber (Borussia Dortmund) as the club’s third signing for the 2013/14 season.
