Mariusz Stepinski arrives at 1. FC Nürnberg

The 18-year-old Polish striker moves from Widzew Lodz ahead of the new 2013/14 Bundesliga season.

1. FC Nürnberg have acquired the services of another promising striker. Mariusz Stepinski has signed a contract with the club until June 30th 2016. The 18-year-old arrives from Polish Premier league side Widzew Lodz after both club’s agreed on compensation. The 6’ striker, whose contract at Lodz was due to run out in at the end of this June, is the latest signing at FCN after Martin Angha, Daniel Ginczek and youth striker Nick Weber.

“We have been following Mariusz’s development for a long time now. He’s versatile in attacking positions and therefore extends our options up front,” explained Martin Bader, chairman of 1. FC Nürnberg. “He is a young, exciting player who belongs to one of the most exciting strikers in Poland, especially having proved his quality. That’s the reason he made his debut for in the Polish top flight and for his country at the age of 17.”

“I’m delighted that I’ll be playing for 1. FC Nürnberg next season. The Bundesliga is a great challenge for me,” said Mariusz Stepinski. “A lot of young players have made their breakthrough at FCN in the past. I want to be one of them.”

Mariusz Stepinski is one of the most promising young strikers in Poland. He celebrated his debut in the national side at the age of just 17 in February 2013, and has already been utilised in the U21 squad despite his young age, scoring twice in two appearances. He made 25 appearances for Widzew Lodz this season and scored five goals.
