Willi Evseev: Next season's first signing

The midfielder will join 1. FC Nürnberg from VfL Wolfsburg on a three-year contract in the summer.

After Nürnberg confirmed the contract extension of Antonio Colak, another talented youngster has been signed for next season. Willi Evseev will join FCN from Wolfsburg after the 22-year-old midfielder agreed to a three-year deal, joining in the summer on a free transfer.

“The club have proven that young and talented players are key to the philosophy,“ explained chairman Martin Bader. “We are confident that Willi fits in and has the right character fort his club. He has shown that through his performances in Wolfsburg.”

Good talks with Verbeek and Bader

Willi Evseev made his Bundesliga debut with VfL Wolfsburg in October 2013, before going on to make two more top-flight appearances. In the club’s reserve team, the left-footed midfielder has already netted nine goals in 18 appearances this season.

“I have to thank a lot of people in Wolfsburg. Under Dieter Hecking, I had the chance to experience Bundesliga football. But I have decided not to extend my contract at Wolfsburg. The conversations I had with Gertjan Verbeek and Martin Bader made it clear what the club has in store for me,“ said Evseev. “There are a lot of examples that show how good a decision it is to move to Nürnberg as a young player.”
